So I asked him how to pronounce his name and he said, “It’s dead easy, Ak-Aker-see-aker”. There was a player at the Dunhill Cup at St Andrews and the guys in the press room were taking bets that I would get it wrong. I would cross the name out and write above it the right sounds. I was once told that with the more difficult names you should take one stab at it and try to sound convincing. My belief was if you don’t have any input, you shouldn’t have any output. There was never anywhere to go and I didn’t have time. I had to condition myself so I didn’t eat or drink anything. I had a strict routine because it was always a one-tee start. I did the same spiel for so long that people started to imitate me. So I just kept it simple by saying, “This is game number… so and so”.
